Breaking Dad: Season 3

Hungry Bear for ITV

Editor: Dan Knight Eps 1,3 & 5

Monday 4th January at 8pm on ITV

We could all do with a bit of escapism at the moment, so it’s great to see Bradders back for more daring adventures and sightseeing with his son Barney. The new series follows Bradley and Barney travelling across Europe and as always, Barney will be pushing his dad to the limits with more thrill-seeking activities like ski-jumping, paragliding and even a bungee jump!

Editor Dan Knight said ‘It’s always a fun job to cut having done all 3 series, with a great team. Playing big stunts against daft comedy with a great soundtrack’.

Tune in tonight at 8pm on ITV.

Tier 4 Restrictions and the UK Screen Alliance Guidance

After a turbulent 72 hours of the tightening restrictions, here is an update of where that leaves the post-production and VFX sector.

Even in areas where the highest measures are in place, such as the new Tier 4 in London and the South East, there are no new restrictions on post-production and VFX businesses providing they meet Covid-secure guidelines. If work cannot be performed at home, post & VFX workers may travel to work on the premises even if that requires crossing to and from areas in higher tiers.

DCMS have confirmed that filming can continue, even to the extent that some venues and businesses that would normally be required to close have been given an exemption to specifically permit filming.

The Gov.uk guidance on Tier 4 restrictions is here.

The restrictions will be reviewed by the end of the month, but it seems highly likely that they will prevail well into the new year.

The latest version of the UK Screen Alliance guidance is available on the Screen Alliance website.

One piece of very good news is that the government have extended the Film & TV Production Restart Scheme which provides an insurance indemnity against Covid disruption. The £500m scheme was due to end in February but the deadline for registration is now 30th April and claims will be able to be submitted up to the end of November for losses incurred up until the end of June 2021.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our editors and clients a wonderful festive season despite and fingers crossed for a better 2021!

We will be available on over the holiday season.

This one-hour special will debut on ITV on Monday 28th December at 9:30pm and in Scotland it will be shown on the 30th  December at 9.30pm on STV.

It marks the end of Sir Billy Connolly’s incredible career in comedy, after he announced he was stepping back from live stand-up performance two years ago.

It features footage of Connolly at his home in Florida, archival footage of his greatest moments and several big names feature for exclusive chats, sharing their own personal messages and highlights from his career. The big names include Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Lenny Henry, Dustin Hoffman, Russell Brand and  Whoopi Goldberg.

This was the dream edit for Sean Schmolz,  he explained “Working with the most fantastic director, Emily Kennedy, and watching a comedy genius do his thing for a couple of months was a most excellent job to have. I must admit I didn’t realise quite what a talented, and genuinely lovely man, Billy is.  I just hope the neighbours are getting over the loud swearing and blasphemy that was rocking out from my loft!”.

We are really looking forward to this one, I think we will be laughing and crying in equal measures!

Celebrity Ex in the City

Whizz Kid Entertainment for MTV

Editor: Amy Hadfield

MTV’s brand new spin-off off to Ex on the Beach called Celeb Ex in the City will be premiered on Tuesday 8th Dec. Amy Hadfield worked on the series. Amy said it was a fun show to edit full of laughs and the classic ex on the beach drama.

Each episode of the MTV show will see two single famous faces go on a date at a central London restaurant, but just when they start getting comfortable, they’ll be interrupted by one of their notorious exes. If that wasn’t awkward enough, the celebrities will have to decide whether to go a second date with their original blind date or their ex.

Celebrity Ex on the Beach stars Calum Best and Michael Griffiths are returning, but they’ll be joined by a who’s who of reality TV legends like Love Island stars Amy Hart and Megan Barton-Hanson and Big Brother icon Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace.

This may have to be our new guilty pleasure!

Celeb Ex in the City will be premiered on Tuesday 8th Dec on MTV.

Masterchef: The Professionals

Shine TV for BBC One

Editor: Tom Savage

More Lockdown means more cooking!  Take inspiration from Masterchef: The Professionals.  It returns for its 13th series and this year it has moved from BBC Two to a primetime spot on BBC One.

We are happy to see the familiar faces of Gregg Wallace, Monica Galetti and Marcus Wareing as they put some new chefs through their paces over a number of weeks in order to find the best, all socially distanced of course!

Tom Savage is a dab hand at Masterchef, but this time had the challenge of editing the contestants in the new covid friendly format (no cuddling in this series)! Normally watching all the amazing food being made makes him hungry and it costs a fortune at lunchtime but now working from home he has to make do with last nights leftovers from the kitchen fridge! Tom edited episodes ep 7, 9 and 16 which will air on the 24th, 26th November and the 15th December.

Tune in on Tuesday’s at 9pm.

As we are in Lockdown Part 2 and the winter months are upon us, apart from tinkering with your fantasy football team, knitting a scarf for your dog or heavy drinking, there is little left we can do apart from cooking. So look out for “James May: Oh Cook” due to start this Friday 13th November on Amazon Prime.  The series see’s James May in the unfamiliar world of the kitchen, where he’ll be cooking up some delicious recipes with help from home economist Nikki Morgan. The show claims its meals to be simple enough for anyone to make and incorporating easily accessible ingredients.

Across its seven episodes, May will be attempting dishes ranging from the Far East to the Med, as well as some classic pub grub. Roy Williams edited the Puddings, Curry and Pasta episodes. He started the edit just as England was going into lockdown back in March, he said “we were all just figuring out the challenges and workflows involved in remote editing. But all went well.  It was a great team that I have worked together over lots of productions before”.  We look forward to it Roy!
