Shortlist Announced
Award Season 2024 is off and first in line are the Broadcast Awards. Recognising the best in British TV, we are happy to see some familiar projects on the shortlist and well done to our editors for their excellent work!
Nick Follows was one of the editors on Inside the Iranian Uprising produced by Passion Pictures for BBC Two, which was selected in the ‘Best Current Affairs Programme’ category. This doc tells the incredible story of the protests that followed the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini while in police custody, told mainly through the mobile phone footage of the brave citizens involved.
The Crossing, produced by DM Productions for ITV and already an award-winning documentary, was edited by Ella Newton and also got shortlisted in the ‘Best Current Affairs Programme’ category.
George Michael: Outed, produced by Blast Films for Channel 4, is an archive heavy documentary looking at the tumultuous period in George Michael’s life when his homosexuality was discovered by the press and how his reaction to a potentially career-ending event at the time became a defining moment for gay liberation. This has been selected in the ‘Best Documentary Series’ category and is edited by Charlie Hawryliw
The already critically acclaimed series The Traitors is in the ‘Best Entertainment Programme’ category, produced by Studio Lambert for BBC One and edited by James Sheldon and Janet Shaw
Married at First Sight produced by CPL Productions for Channel 4 and edited by Mike Kerr and Ian Smith has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Multichannel Programme’ category.
