The Times’ critics choice for tonight, this documentary looks at the history of Manchester’s high security prison, Strangeways. It has housed some of the country’s most dangerous convicts including serial killers Ian Brady and Harold Shipman. Charlie Hawryliw edited this documentary which features first-hand testimony from past inmates and staff. It tells the truth about life behind the walls of one of Britain’s most notorious jails and looks at the 1990 riot as well as the horrific conditions that sparked the event.
