Alan Titchmarsh and a team of familiar faces visit historic properties owned by the National Trust revealing the hidden history, human stories and natural history behind each one. Simon Warner worked on three episodes including Episode 1: Hardwick Hall. Richard Lace also edited small parts across the series.

In Episode 1 edited by Simon, Alan explores Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire. Once the home of Elizabeth Talbot, Countess of Shrewsbury, commonly known as Bess of Hardwick. From humble beginnings, she amassed great wealth, land and a title. Alan gets to see bits of the Hardwick estate most of us will never see, including a staircase to the roof squeezed between two walls.
